Challenge

AggiePark received consistent constructive feedback from UC Davis staff, students, and visitors. Users felt frustrated with outdated interfaces, unsafe inputting their credit card information, and a lack of flexibility.

Research

To empathize with user frustrations, I conducted a survey, user interviews, a focus group, competitive analysis, and user testing.

Insights

I found that AMP Park could benefit from an onboarding flow, clarified map design, and improved payment process.

Ideation

Sketched and wireframed to reorganize information, increasing customizability, and modernizing the design system.

User Flow

Mapped out a user flow that could work for any campus that uses AMP Park.

Design System

Updated colors, typography, and buttons to improve accessibility.

Final Design

Onboarding

Introduces AMP Park's safety features, reminds users to turn on location services, and prompts users to create an account. Aims to increase trust while streamlining the account creation process.

Takeaways

01

Communicating with stakeholders

I presented my work to stakeholders at UC Davis and AMP Park. I navigated presenting a redesign in a way that remained respectful to the original product while clearly communicating design thinking.

02

Understanding business constraints

I learned how to consider scalability and feasibility during this project. Since AMP Park is used on many other campuses, our features had to be applicable to any location.

03

Emphasize transparency

Transparent design can make or break a user's experience with a product. Our improved design received positive feedback for the safe feeling it evoked, beyond just the technical details.
